Hey guys. Just bought this anemone today. My local lfs told me it was a carpet sebae, but a friend of mine is having serious doubts about the validity of that. Any help on idetifying this new addition we'll be greatly appreciated

lol I was thinking the same thing :)
Almost looks like a condilactus (sp?) common white anemone with purple tips.
I thought sebae's had tentacles all the way across like a carpet anemone???
I'm sure someone more knowledgable will speak up soon. Ok, I'm waiting.

ok i'm the skeptic. i have never heard of a sebae carpet anemone. the sebaes i have seen have tentacles all the way across like diver said. i thought it kinda looked like elegant coral too. however i found a couple pictures of sebaes on the net that dont have tentacles all the way across. now all that said. the guy at that store knows what he's talkin about so i hate to disagree with him.

thanks for the info birdlady. I really like the anemone, the thing I'm mostly concerned about is will it try to eat my clown or not. That's the main reason I've been trying to identify it. If its a sebae I think I'm on safer ground, but if its some species of condilactis, I've read that they can sometimes eat fish.

I can say with 99% certainty that it is not a condylactis. ;) ;D
