What not to do may be better.

    WOW, where to start....

I would turn off all power for 3 mins....if no flooding move on..

Next, I would get auto feeders set up.
And then auto top off set up..

Someone will chime in.. im noob still.

When are you going on vacation? If you're going to do some of the "auto" things (topoff, feeders), do you have enough time to test them properly while you're still at home? Do you have a trusted friend/neighbor who could come in and do topoffs and feed? We were out of town for a week after Xmas, and we had a friend of Jwin come in and do our topoffs and feed and drive the Mag Float around. He also has a saltwater tank and we were very comfortable with him taking care of things - plus we have a cockatiel, leopard gecko, and a FW tank to take care of. We have T5 Sundial lights with built-in timers, so I just left the timers do their thing.

Well, I don't have any dates set yet but I have to go to 3-4 conferences a year anywhere from 3-5 days and of course the annual vacations. This just hit me as I am getting more and more involved with this addicting hobby. :)

    good

    Great still time..

Yeah testing out auto stuff is k+.

many people go away. so you shouldn't have to big of a problem with not being around up to 5-9 days..past that you run in to some things but IMO theres so many people here that will help out with ?'s..IMO i would buy the auto top off+auto feeders to test asap and then start thinking about getting a computer unit device that ck's param's and mess with that.. i think they can send info to your cell phone, and you'll be able to see your tank stats online..with more thinking IMO one could even dose from the web/phone.

    No worries,
    Mike

To add to the suggestions already get an Aquacontroller III and hook it up to your internet connection so you can check up on the tank from the internet anywhere in the world, then have someone available (preferably that understands reefs) that can answer a call if you see something go wrong.

I'm an airline pilot and I'm gone sometimes 4-5 days. I have the ATO auto topoff. I set up a trash can full of RO to pull from if I'm going on a long trip like that. I have the Rhondomatic feeder that works great. I put flakes and algae chips in it.
Also I put a few clips of algae and a big brocolli clip in that floats the tangs a couple of days.
Much longer that that I would have someone come in to check up on things. I get nervous enough as it is when I'm gone that long. My girlfriend can check up on stuff sometimes.
