i really just have some questions that i would like to be answered.

do the snails in your tank. do i need to get them new and bigger shells to go into. or do they grow there own.

when fish go to the bathroom, do they squirt it out or does it come out like some fresh water fish.

and when it comes to water changes how much times should i do it a year.

i just put three fish into my tank and two corals what should i be seeing in. i have all of the test kits. so what should i be testing? what should i be looking for

from my experience the shells grow with them

i personally do a 10-15 gallon water change every 2 weeks...this might be alittle excessive but in reality its only about 8-10 because i lose some water due to evaporation

they poop just like any other fish

test for everything you can, make sure your fish are eating, and look for anything that just looks bad..then post pictures and ask if it is normal

Good advice. I would suggest a 10-15% water change. The 10-15% being the percentage of water volume you have.

I do believe thats normal for them just to"squirt out"(i call it- blowing a cloud of dust :cheesy:)But i do recall reading that long stringy poop (like often seen in freshwater fish) with saltwater fish can mean possible constipation or other digestive troubles,i never seen a fish swimming around in my saltwater tank dragging a log behind it.(i am also speaking of somewhat smaller species,so idk if large fish with large diets and bowel movements are different or not,so someone please correct me if thats not right.)

when i talk about testing the water is there anything that i should be looking for as in things that should happen in the water/cycle of your tank, when adding fish and corals.
i really need to know if everything is going well. because if so in the next 2 weeks i would to keep adds corals.

i hope you guys understand what I'm trying to ask.

If it's a reef,i would test and look for the following-
ph- somewhere between 7.8 and 8.4 with 8.1/8.3 being my target.
ammonia-should allways be at 0 or very close to zero
nitries-also should be looking for 0
nitrates-ehh,i think everyone shoots for 0 but 10/20ppm is normal, but again the target is 0
    Alk-between 8 and 12 dhk (again,target reading)
phosphate should allways be at or very near 0
    calcium-target of 400 to 450 ppm range
mag-(i'm still new to testing mag)so i'll leave that one for someone else.;)
