    HEY YALL!
I ACQUIRED A 150 GAL TANK THAT ALREADY HAD SAND (I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT'S LIVE OR NOT BUT I WANT IT OUT!), SOME RIVER ROCKS, SOME DEAD CORAL, SOME OTHER ROCKS, AND SURPRISINGLY 2 BABY CATFISH THAT CAME OUT OF LAKE JULIETTE IN JULIETTE, GA. THE GUY I GOT IT FROM HAD A SALT WATER SET-UP AND THEN CHANGED IT TO A FRESHWATER SET UP. I WAS SCARED THAT THE LITTLE CATFISH WERE GOING TO DIE B/C THEY WERE LIVING IN A VERY SMALL PUDDLE IN THE TANK FOR PROBABLY 4 OR 5 DAYS  BUT THEY ARE FLOURISHING ALONG WITH MY PLECO, 2 GREEN TERRORS, A TIGER OSCAR, A RED OSCAR, AND 2 PACUS. I ALSO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CROWN TAILED BETA IN A 1 GAL AQUARIUM THAT HAS GRAVEL AND SHELLS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET THAT SAND OUT OF THE TANK. I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT BEFORE I FILLED IT BACK UP, BUT I DIDN'T SO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD IDEAS ON HOW TO GET THE SAND OUT WITH OUT HAVING TO TAKE MY FISH OUT OF THE TANK TOO? I REALLY DON'T WANT TO STRESS EM OUT.....THEY ARE ALL YOUNG FISH.:confused::confused:

I would siphon it out. You could get a 1 in. diameter plastic tube and use that. You could also take the water that you siphon out back into the tank so you don't have to refill the tank.

You can siphon as others have said or just use a gallon ziplock bag and slowly scoop it up, then use siphon to get the left overs.

I can tell you from experience that those fish are very hardy and they may stress a little but you really have to make an effort to kill them, they will live in the filthiest environments. Just think about the fact you probably feed them live fish and how ammonia is released everytime they eat one.
