Hey guys. For anyone who has an in line tds meter on their RO unit I have a question. I have the dual inline one from HM. It comes calibrated. The reading says 272ppm coming in and the out line is 220ppm. Is my RO unit just a piece of junk or do I need to recalibrate this thing. Both are brand new. The RO unit is a 6 stage RO/DI. Any one have experience with these?

It could be a number of things.

That model extrapolates TDS via conductivity. There are two pins on each connection to the hosing. If the pins (on BOTH hoses) are not aligned properly, you will get false readings.

Second thing....if this is a brand new unit, did you flush the RO membrane

Third thing....if it's used, when was the last time it was replaced? Also if it was used, was it stored upright completely full of water? That has to be done or you will have to buy a new membrane.

Thanks inwall. Yeah I did seem to have the prongs misaligned. It has come down to less than 20. So something is still not right. It is a new unit and i did flush the membrane. Maybe I didn't do it long enough. I don't remember. Will flushing it again do anything?

It might help. No harm in trying because periodic flushing is good for the membrane so you certainly aren't going to hurt anything.

My directions had me flush for 10 minutes.
