    Hey everyone

I am currently designing my first ever sump for my first ever marine tank and I need info any info is acceptable and I wil be grateful for any comment. If people have experiences with designs or whatever write it down and help me out. I would also want to know if you need baffles to get rid of micro bubbles.

    Cheers everyone

you don't "need" baffles. you can design a sump a million different was. You really ought to keep in mind what it's for and how to best achieve that. you might think of something new if not constrained by the NORM. But, you might also avoid a few potential pit falls by following a "tried and true" method.

Basic sump that i'd put together would just have a bubble wall or an over under wall for all water coming in. Then a large section for an over sized and effective skimmer, then an over under with about 2-3 inches between the walls for any media that you might put in filter socks. This area is also good for a sponge if you want and for collecting some bubbles. Last is your return pump.
