input on a mandarin is it's mouth, output near it's anal fin....

Ok seriously though, their not a super easy fish, they need to be put in a very well matured tank, not a young one.
They can take to frozen/pellet foods BUT plan on them never doing anything but live food, and having to be able to provide them with a rabid amount of pods and brine that are live

Have you got a fuge and ample pod population LG? Your tank is coming up on a year old now?

when you pick one up from the lfs - as previously said, see if it will eat frozen. If not i wouldn't personally buy it

7 months now.. and I do not have the fuge...but I have a very large pop. of pods
I'm thinking about going under the stand with a filtration system...but I'd like to have a full year of success with the 30 gal before I jump up in size.
What do ya think about running a larger filtration system with the 30 gal?

Very difficult to keep. I plan on it someday (after my tank's first anniversary), and only when I have a top notch fuge with much in the way of pods. From what I have read, they need a constant source of food available to them and their diet is very limited. Read up and be careful, otherwise the goby will starve.

I waited a full year to add mine and it was hard to wait but She has been with me since November now and she has doubled in size ( and she never eats anything but what she hunts down herself ) . She wont touch any Mysis or Brine etc only pods for her. :victory:

Same here, great fish but you need to make sure the tank is ready.

Mine is 6+ years old now. As you can see by pic (and one above) is a fat little sausage.

Have never witnessed eating anything but what finds on its own.
