    Forum:

I was thinking of hanging my AquaticLife 48" T5 fixture from my roof like a pendant. This will give us more room for maintenance. Currently we just have the fixture sitting on its brackets over the tank.

Our question is there a specific hight to completely cover the DT we should consider? I addition what is the best way to make sure the roof attachments will be spot on so we will not have to move the tank once the light is hung?

    Thanks

If you hang you light you may want to consider putting in on some type of pulley so it can be raised and lowered to any height you wish. That way the light can be as close as it is with the legs and then when its maintenance time you can raise it out of the way. As far as making sure the anchors in the ceiling are in the rigt spot you can use a plumb bob, they are cheap and easy to use. Its basically a weight with a point on one end attached to a string, hold the end of the string on the ceiling and let the plumb bob hang down. move the string around on the ceiling until the point of the plumb bob is touching the spot on your light that you will attach the hanging hardware. where the string touches the ceiling is where you will put the anchors to hang it from

I had thought of that I was going to use an old rod and Penn reel to be exact....LoL .. i though that would be neat

I had read somewhere people using lasers and such but a plumb bob will do the trick thanks for the heads up...
