I'm finally taking a step towards inverts, my question is what type of shrimp and crabs would be the easiest to keep for a invert beginner in a FOWLR. Tank stock is 1 yellow tang, bi color angel, and a maroon clown with about 50 pounds of base rock and 40 pounds of live.

cleaner shrimp, blood shrimp are easy. if youve got any aiptasia , a peppermint will sometimes eat that for you. and good old hermit crabs are always easy. do you have any snails? general rule of thumb trevor, is minimum 1 cuc for each gallon. hope this helps a bit

I would be warry of boxing shrimp as they can be very aggressive to other shrimp and hermits. Camelback shrimps can decimate star polyps and zoanthids. Sally lightfoot crabs are safe when small but when they get larger is predatory trying to catch fish and eating hermits and ripping up anemones and corals to feed on their gut content. The arrow crab is also aggressive towards other crustaceans.
