I am stocking my 55 gallon tank and really want to add mobile inverts and not a lot of fish. Does anyone have any suggestions on interesting invertebrates?

So far this is my tank.
    55 Gallon w/ 20 gallon sump / fuge
    4 x 54 T5 lights
    Octopus NW 120 Skimmer
    K2 and Seio 610
    Quietone 3000 return pump
    70 lbs of liverock
40 lbs of super fine aragonite sand

    Livestock
    1 Lawnmower Blenny
    1 Orangespot Goby
    2 peppermint shrimp
    1 sally lightfoot
    1 emerald crab
    ~ 20 Nessarious snails
    2 turbo grazers
    ~ 12 Nerite snails
~ 12 tiny blue leg hermit crabs

    Corals
    hammer coral
    zoas
    mushrooms
    cup coral

I would like to get a cucumber but i really don't want it to wipe my tank if the sally lightfoot takes a taste.

I have a few tiny starfish that came in as hitchhikers. No idea what type they are but they are small and green with light green patches.

What type of star were you thinking?

There's another thread talking about reef safe stars on the forums right now. Lincka (sp?) star or brittle stars are both cool. Linckas are a little more on the difficult side but if you have been successful so far then I don't see any reason not to try. I have seen them in solid striking blue and also in and orange color. Because of that thread I'm actually going to keep my eyes out for one, myself.

Those do look very pretty. I remember reading something about them not being reef safe but I cant find where I saw that now.

Do you think a cleaner shrimp or a coral banded shrimp.. or maybe both would work?

Yea those would work. I didn't suggest shrimp because you already have some but you should be ok with those.

I would personally avoid Linkia's at all costs. Dismal 1% survival rate long term. It isn't even known what they eat exactly, so proper care can't be understood anyways. One of those creatures that should remain in the ocean.

Well then I'll stay away from Linkia stars. Any other suggestions and what about the extra shrimp? I don't want any major fighting going on but really like the looks of different types of shrimp.

The blue Linkia and the orange have a diet of Bacterial film, sponges, dead mollusks

Also, Starfish are intolerant of sudden changes in oxygen levels, salinity and pH of the water, and cannot tolerate copper-based medications. The drip acclimation method is highly recommended for all Sea Stars due to their intolerability to changes in water chemistry. It should never be exposed to air while handling.
