    You might be interested on Randy Holmes-Farley's take on Iodine dosing. He used to dose but does not anymore.
    Got to his site on RC and do a search just on his forum for "Iodine".
    When it comes to our water in this hobby, you just can't beat the help that Randy has given us over the years. In fact, it's my number one site to visit daily.
    (just my not so humble opinion)
    Fortunately for me, I've never had to spend for iodine or any other trace element additives so it leaves more money for the inhabitants.
    I DO dose calcium hydroxide nightly however. ($10 for 20 kilos)
