iodine in water

    Is iodine required in order to keep your corals healthy? what is iodine for?

    In My Opinion. Iodine should only be used IF you are testing for it. Salt mixes generally have the amounts needs by most inhabitants, however, and this is where my OPINION and what I've seen and done comes in. I said most inhabitants. Shrimp, crabs & leathers(anything that molts/sheds) use iodine when they molt. I'm not sure if it's they need it to aid in the molting process or to shield(makes it like an antibiotic) their delicate bodies when they do molt, until their new shells are formed. Both make sense to me. NEVER just add to add(anything), Always test and retest for iodine if you plan on adding, then after, if you've added it. This is pretty much a rule with anything you add. Test first!!!!!!!!
