Great article. But the references are very very old. The most recent one was from 6 years ago. Some are from the early 60s. Anyone can write an article and make it look professional. Things change all the time. I know that when I add iodine some times the next morning my shrimp molt. Also if my zenia slow their pulsating and I add iodine they are going crazy the next day. I have had growth like crazy out of my iodine demanding animals. Polyps. Iodine supplementation is a must. Thanks R34Dawn

Shrimp and other crustaceans molt when they're growing. When the body senses that it's growing beyond the limits of the exoskeleton, it molts. In other words, molting means the animal is growing. That means all is well.

I don't know a lot about iodine other than crustaceans utilize it in their shell; but irrespective of iodine, molting is a good thing.

I remember reading somewhere that molts become less frequent as an invert ages...don't quote me on that. Has anyone else heard of this?

Yeah, Zoidberg himself doesn't even molt as much now that he's reached his adult size.
