So im looking to rework my 55 and would like to open up some space. I am lookly to replace my 2 Koralias with Vortech.
Currently I have a Koralia 3 on one end of the 48" tank high in the corner and a Koralia 1 mid low on th other end to get some randomn water action.

I was thinking of getting a vortech mp10 but im not sure how the flow would be so maybe a MP20 would be better.

currently the only SPS I have is a monti cap. Frag and Ill mainly being stayng with LPS and softies, but I do want to get a clam.

I also worry the mp20 one one end might just blast stuff in its path

    whjat are your suggestions

I've never had a vortech before so I can't speak of that. However with strong powerheads, I often bounce them off of the glass to disperse the flow.

mp10 wont be enough youll need at least a mp20 mp10s are known to be pretty weak. I dont have many corals but i have a few sps and lps and they do fine in my 46 with a mp20 so id say ditch the mp10 and get a mp20 or 40

For a 4 ft tank, I would not recommend a MP20. The MP40 would do it, but the 20 is a stretch. The flow will reach the other end, but will be weak. You could keep a K3 on one end and the 40 on the other.

I have palys not 6" directly in front of my 40. They do awesome.

The flow on MPs are extremely wide. Try not to think of them as having a flow pattern. More of a wall of water moving across your tank.

MP40 gonna have to wait a bit, think ill swap the K1 for a 3, or if the new evos ever come out the med one and save a bit for the mp40 then. thanks

One strong powerhead is not a good source of flow IMO. I think having a source of flow from both sides of a tank is best, especially for a 4' tank.
I think 2 MP10's or MP20's dialed back a little would be good for flow and eliminating dead spots etc. You can also get one Vortech and keep a Koralia at the other end for a while and maybe add another Vortech in the future if you want to keep costs down now.
