My tank is 9 months and I rarely test out my water. The only thing I test is the salt when I'm doing water changes.

I haven't even done a water change in months, TBH. I dose alk and cal via dosing pumps, magnesium occasionally, and have a big fuge, GFO reactor, and an ATO.

I don't even check my salinity in the tank too often, since the ATO makes it stay pretty reliable to within .003 of 1.025.

I forgot to add the blue xenia from africa and the countless number of sponges and sea squirts that came attached years ago to my live rock. I can't seem to get ricordeas to thrive in my tank and I did have some seaweed die off but other than that nothing has ever kicked the bucket.

I wish I had a ATO im terrified of them they seem to complicated and too much for error. I have been dumping water in for years via left over red sea coral pro buckets *sad face. I need to invest in one what is your opinion on ATO's are they hazardous or worth the risk.

    Keep it simple, stupid.

For a reliable ATO, you want the Tunze Osmolator or BlueLine Tsunami.

this has never concerned me. I'm assuming my weekly water changes keeps everything in check. I mean my SPS are happy and growing and my leather coral. Basically when the xenia stops or slows its pulsing I know its time for a change.
