Hey guys! Need an ASAP here.

Got a Malu Anemone on Sunday. Acclimated well for 2 and a half hours, put the guy in and he was perfectly fine. Even started moving less than 5 minutes in the tank. He found a nice perfect spot near to where I put him.

Today however, I noticed a string of brown on a rock beside him. Looked it up and it said that it was releasing cr*p and that they deflate while they do this and that it was normal. However, it's been deflated for nearly 2 hours. It's not as deflated like flat-on-the-ground deflated, it's not that severe. Hasn't lost any color. Mouth seems fine. Haven't kept an anemone for nearly 3 years now and this guy I have now seemed fine up until today.

Just in case: My tank has been running near-to 2 years now. Lighting is AI Sol LED's.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Expelling waste and or zooxanthellea is normal during acclimation. Inflating and deflating is a normal part of water exchange as well and make take several hours. As long as the Anemone is footed, oral opening is not gabbing too badly, there are no Mesenterial Filaments the acclimation is going well.

    Congrats on your new Anemone.

Checked on him today and he's grand. He's looking even better than before. I never fully assumed he was going to die but then again, I've noticed anemones to be very spontaneous animals in terms of health so thankfully I posted here just to be sure!

    Thanks Corailline.

I think anemones get the best of us sometimes. My rose bta just split 3 weeks ago and both follow the same routine. They are fully inflated when the lights come on and then as the lights are doing the sunset cycle, they completely deflate. It's interesting to watch. But glad to hear its doing well now.
