We went on vacation last week and when we came back the anemone seemed to be splitting. It keeps making a kind of heart shape as if its splitting but then it will be round again. Has anyone had this happen before?

They really need a lot of light. t5's or metelhalides. They will move around and change shape, trying to get the best light. I have never seen one split, but from what I have read, they will move away from the light and stop eating for a week or two. In that time they may appear to be dying, and if you disturb them they will not split. I have never seen them split, so I dont know if that info. is right; However I would bet on the lighting.

this was like a $400.00 light lol its supposed to be for corals and stuff. We just bought another anemone today with the light and our LFS guy told us this would help everything in the tank grow. He's still eating and he hasn't done any of the heart shape stuff again so I'm thinking maybe he was just moving or something. On another note the new anemone wont eat and hes looking kinda weird and stretched in one spot. Hopefully he'll split cause hes huge.

I had a BTA split. It showed no sign that it was going to do it immediately before. It split the day after I did a water change. When I poured the new water in I hit the poor anemone a little to hard. The bucked slipped a little on me and the anemone took the brunt of the water. The next day when I came home from work I had two anemones side by side. Mother and child are still doing fine.

The anemone had been acting strange about a month earlier it was moving around and I couldn't figure out why and it really frustrated me. It was hiding for days and then moving around. I thought for sure it was about to slip but it never did at that point.
