So before I get smacked about the title, I would like to say that I'm a firm believer in QT tanks and always have used them. I bumped into a coral shop while out of state and their selection was amazing. Looking to purchase a bunch of frags and a couple of cardinal fish from them and have it shipped back before I leave. Had a nice chat with them and they treat the fish for a minimum of 30 days with copper after receiving them. I am wondering what you guys think about this. Can I just receive those fish and acclimate them to my tank and throw them in? I don't have an extra tank anymore to QT the fish in hence the reason I'm kind of reluctant to do that and looking for some opinions.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The question is whether they treat at the therapeutic level for copper.

that's a good question. I'm pretty confident they do. I didn't think of asking that actually. The fish did look very healthy and active in the tanks tree and they were very knowledgeable.

also a QT tank doesn't forcibly have to be a glass rectangle, if you have an unused plastic box or an old bucket that would work too no?

that's true. I just feel like if I do continuous water changes on those containers, ammonia will still build up in them over the course of a couple weeks.

I would say yes - understanding that you are taking the risk albeit it would be reduced if what they tell you is true.

I think QT would help the fish recover from the stress of shipping. I would do a 3 week isolation as long as you don't observe any diseases that require treatment.
