If i wanted to invest the money for a tank, mp20 powerhead, really expensive light (probably tek light), a good protein skimmer, and very classy and rare coral, do you think a store will buy frags from me? Me and my brother are willing to invest but i just wanted to know if you guys have ever heard of that. It would probably be a 20 gallon long. My brother doesnt know the first thing about saltwater but i went over the prices with him and i would take care of the tank and raise the coral but he has to invest and he is willing.

Why we brought this up is because i was just in chicago for a wedding and we went to shedds aquarium and they had a section all about how to grow coral and what frags are and how they grow and how you can cut them and everything so from there on, he was talking about it. Please tell me if i can make this a reality.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Each fish store is different. You would have to check with your store.

And the market for said corals..... There are rare ones that I want but I sure as heck won't pay $350 for a piece, LOL.

i hear ya haha. Maybe not that rare but very elegant. And if no store will buy, we might make a web page. My brother may not be good at maintaining a sw tank but he sure as **** can make a good web page. Hes really good with the computer and my mom and dads business has great shipping deals with ups because they ship with them so much. Ill only do the online thing is some of you promise to buy ;D jk but that is a possibility. And when i said rare i meant only like a few of those the rest will be standard sps and maybe lps but prob not. Bright colors ;D

For tank, im looking at 20 gallon tall.
For light, im either looking at 24" tek light or a MH/t5 combo fixture
For powerhead, im looking at the mp20, which should suffice for sps
For skimmer, im looking at an octopus backpack, maybe BH-100
For filtration, yet to be determined

    Thanks,
    Ryan

It can be done. But unless you go big, it seems it costs more to setup and maintain the tank then you'll make selling them.

the 2 biggest problems are that the tank would need to be alot bigger to keep stable enough for sps and that the stores usually don't pay very much for frags

another good point (about the store not paying well), your probably right and i should probably just eliminate the middle man and just ship them directly (which means i would go with the internet option)

also, about the tank size, that can change i was just putting that out there

I would buy more corals online if I could find places with good shipping charges.
