I've had this BTA for several months now and up until recently he was stationary and appeared content. He is feed cut up silversides about every 3 days and has always taken the food quickly and eaten well. About 10 days ago it started wandering. mostly overnight. I just figured it was looking for a new happy spot ,maybe light or flow prefrences changed.
Last night I came home after lights out and found it floating in the tank.
I immediately shut of the powerheads to prevent a blender and decided to wait till morning. I checked one more time before bed and it had moved back up a rock from the sand bed and appeared to be reattached.

This morning when I woke up I found him un attached again in the sand...appeared very bloated and transparent. Still a good green color and the foot had alot of beige to it accept the very bottom where normally attached.

I just called my wife to tell her she needs to keep an eye and she said it was again climbing the glass..so I know its not dead

This pic was taken this morning he is upside down leaning againest the rock
Any suggestions, water params are normal and stable for the last year. Had an algae bloom a few weeks ago when I added my new lights but since undercontrol with a new cleanup crew of snails and blue legs ( nothing that hasnt been in the tank before) and a good 20% waterchange. Also backed off on the light cycle and bringing it back up to normal slowly

Something is making it not happy, it looks like it is bleached and in process of dying. Sorry

It doesn't look good since its faced down and not attached. You might placing it somewhere where it won't blow away, but can easily re-attach since its stressed.

I was going to ask about your lights and good that you backed off since you got new bulbs. Its possible you shocked it and stressed it with the new bulbs so backing off should help. Just be ready for a potential long road to recovery.

Also, feeding it every 3 days is overkill. A 'nem that size could easily get fed once every 2-3 weeks and be fine. Nems have slow metabolism so if you feed them a lot, the food can actually rot inside of them.

Check your phosphate levels. Also, what type of top off water are you using? If you use tap, it may be a case of heavy metal contamination. Have you used any copper based medications?
Another possibility is that there may be some chemical warfare going on from the corals that it doesn't like. Get some good carbon in your system just in case.
If you have a specimen container, put the anemone in that to keep it from meeting a powerhead. A small hamster ball will work as well.
