Thank you so much Reeron ! And I mean thanks. 3 Reef rocks ! I was going to use a clip method or Gin's suggestion. I think this is the way to go. Easy access to get them out for trimming!

It's simply Caulerpa sertularioides from the looks of it. If its that single stem I see running across the rock ? With all but one little hunk of leaf left to see its hard to 100% tell for sure . The species taxifolia looks very much like C. sertularioides But the fish will eat one and the other C Taxifolia nothing will eat it and live to eat it twice I would have to see a close up of then C. sertularioides that you now have with leaves and a fer more stems to make a 100% positive I.D . All that glitters is not gold and all Green Caulerpa's are not Taxifolia . I really don't think that Taxifolia what you have there on that rock.

Thanks Tangster, and yes, it's the single stem running across the rock. I'm going to have to wait and see, as it's in my sump/fuge, so nothing is going to get a chance to eat it. I pulled it out of the ball of Chaeto that I got last week. Took it out of the Chaeto about 36 hours ago, and it's already grown about 30%. Once it gets bigger, I'll post another pic. If it's safe to leave, I may get rid of the Chaeto and just keep the Mangroves and Caulerpa.

If it was in a ball of Cheado then I know what its not.. Or the cheado it was touching would be dead. Mangroves ? where do you have these at ? a refugium with any type of Caulerpa's will not coexist well together they both have totally different needs and requirements . Cheado will do well from blasting flows as with mangroves unlike any form of Caulerpa's . Even the dreaded Bryopsidales Caulerpaceae aka Taxifolia or Penneta

The Mangrove roots can be seen on the left-side of the fuge (suspended by styrofoam at the advice of Reefcleaners.org). They are starting to take off. The Caulerpa? is also growing quickly since I removed it from the Chaeto. The Chaeto isn't doing anything. I have moderate flow (about 150gph) that enters the fuge area from the bottom and it flows up the right-side of the fuge and then across the top (going towards the left-side and then through the bubble trap). Kind of different but I like to experiment (sometimes it's a waste of time, sometimes I discover something good). The water at the bottom (where the live rock and Caulerpa is) is slow (hardly) moving. That's probably why the Caulerpa is growing and not dying off.
