Clownfish often nest in corals in our aquariums. It only becomes a problem if the clowns nuzzle the corals too much causing them to stop opening. I've never heard of that happening with mushrooms though.

They will take to a coral just like they take to a anenome. mine have recently moved again the male stays in the tree coral the female has taken to some purple star polyps. But they switch back and forth now and then plus they have taken to many other things, clowns are not picky as to what they host.

My clown loves to live in the brain (the one in my picure) as well as a bubble tip schroom. What is cool is he feeds them and my bubble tip has split 3 times in 2 months.

My Clown dives into my Green Star Polyps regularly. I can always tell when it has been in there because part of the coral closes up.

Not sure now but yrs ago the "Discosomas" was considered anemone  anyways . And they could deliver a rather good sting also to neighboring corals and if touched by a fish..? Its been many yrs since I have messed with them or really cared much about them except to find ways to rid a old system I had covered with them..
