Hello! I'm new to having a salt water aquarium. I currently have a 45 gallon hexagon tank with a biowheel filter and a full spectrum white and blue 60mW LEDs. I let the tank sit with live rock for about 3 weeks and got all the tank levels where they needed to be. And the heater isn't on but the tank sits between 82-84 degrees F. I got 2 true percula clown fish. A rose bubble tip anenome. And a yellow wrassle.. not sure on the exact kind but it had two black dots on its dorsal fin. The clowns are doing great and the bubble tip anenome looks fat and happy. But I've noticed the past few days my wrassle was looking beat up. And today he's barely moving. I haven't seen my clowns be mean to him so I thought it might be from the rocks he's been hiding in. The man at the pet store told me they would all get along. Also although both clown fish love the anenome one always kickes the other one out. So my clowns spend all day away from eachother for the most part is that normal? And this may seem kinda heartless but would it be okay for the anenome to eat the wrassle if it dies? I tried to net the wrassle earlier but he can still bolt pretty fast. But he's just sitting on the rocks moving his gills really fast. Any any other advise anyone has would be helpful. (Just try to be nice to this newbie lol) I want to have colorful fish that will get along. My niece loves these fish. And should I feed the anenome or let the clown fish feed it?

first: the anemone should not be in there. wait another 6 months or so. the wrasse could have a parasite. has he been eating. do you have any other inverts?

Normal for the clowns, the one the is in the anemone is most likely female the other male.

It does sound as though your clowns are beating up the wrasse.

If you can not get the wrasse out before it dies feeding it to the anemone is fine.

Yes the wrassle was eating and there is a nice flow that moves the anenomes tentacles. The wrassle seemed healthy until today

Probably a parasite on the wrasse, as for feeding the anemone I would recommend target feeding it with small frozen/thawed chunks of food

Watch it close at feeding time, thats the biggest thing to watch to determine health.

Sounds like Brooklynella. That's a fast-reproducing parasite that builds a calcium shell in the gills of fish causing them to suffocate and die.

If you can catch him, I'd recommend a freshwater dip. This will cause the parasites to rupture and die. Either way, keep a close eye on the Clownfish and don't add anything else for at least 2 weeks as the spawn of Brooklynella are free-swimming and will infect any fish in the tank.

And no, I would not recommend feeding any infected fish to a nem.

Oh no I love my little clown fish! Is there any water ftreatments for the parasite I can do? And what's the first sign of an infection?

There are water treatments but they will be toxic to your nem and live rock. Setup a quarantine tank and just put an airsponge filter a a heater. All you need, lighting isn't too important on qt tank. Move fish to qt tank for 8-12 weeks to kill parasite in tank.

It is the tried an true best method for curing disease. I've tried using so called reef safe products. Some have been decent for ich but I don't think for brookynella.

Also someone recommended me to do a formalin dip for brookynella but the best thing I found for it was parasite x. It had a mix of copper and stuff with a small dilution o formaldehyde in it.
