I'm new to the hobby LOLZ. I recently won a goldfish at our state fair. I decided to go buy him a home and some chemicals. He was dead the next morning. Maybe he's in a cocoon and turning into a shark? I don't know much about fish. What's going on here?

Welcome to 3reef. Pull the fish out and dispose of it. What did you add in?

I would also love to know what you put in the tank. As well as, how much.

IME with carnie fish or state fair fish or really any prebagged fish for that matter is that they often don't make it the first day. Who knows how long they have been in the bag(sometime days) and how much ammonia has built up. Gold fish are dirty fish anyway. Add to that an uncycled tank or bowl and it is usually a recipe for disaster.

I usually steer well clear of the games where a fish is offered as a prize as I do not want to encourage that behavior.

Edit: also, this thread reeks of trolling... Lol.
