I just ordered mine so I do not know yet. I have been doing some research and the best answer I can find is to get 3 different thermometers and put in a liquid, get the average reading and set to that. This may be completely wrong but is the best I can come up with for now. Hopefully someone else will chime in and tell us how they do it.

Found a link that might help:

Try using a glass of ice water. I do this to check my meat thermometer.

put the probe in the ice water and set it to 32F. I would imagine this would work for a probe as well.

    Hope this crude method helps.

I used a digital human thermometer, you need to make sure its one that measures all temps as the cheaper ones will only give a reading between 94 and 104. I also think there might be one for cooking too.. If you cant go that route, get 3 different glass thermometers and find the mean of them and do that.

Put a Stealth Pro or other temp-indicating heater in a bucket, set the heater to 75, wait until it turns off, calibrate to 75.

Or, you could use a glass thermometer in some water, and calibrate to that. Those tend to be very accurate.

when you get yours don't try to calibrate it. it is already set. i was stupid enough that i thought i had to and now im having a hard time with it. otherwise i think you will like the rkl but it can get expensive.
    thanks
