Hi guys, im pretty new on this forum.Anyway, I am just about dancing with excitement right now because after a year of somewhat patiently waiting my clowns have started to host something other then my magfloat!!!!And guess what...surprise! It's not that sweet bta i got for them...its a piece of cabbage leather i got for free on some live rock because it was pretty sad looking at the time (although it has recouped nicely in the past few months and is flourishing now)...i have tried every trick in the book from the tapeing a pic of a clownfish in a nem to the flashlight thing to no avail, and about 5 months ago i gave them up for hopeless and left well enough alone...well the other day while preparing to start my waterchange i look in and lo and behold my little male (the misbar) was doing his little rubby dance on the cabbage...i said "no way, its a fluke" and started my WC...he flew back up into the corner where they sleep at night when the siphon went into the tank. Well today i get done with my daily house cleaning and i wander over and holy crow they are BOTH snuggled up inside there!!! I literally screamed for my fiance (he thought i hurt myself haha, thats a pretty regular occurance...im a blonde what can i say) and he was not nearly excited as i was, typical lol. But oh man am i pumped!!! Anyway i just wanted to share with everyone and if anyone is reading this trying to get their clowns to host, just let them go, they will pick what suits them the best when they are ready. Just enjoy their cute little quirks and personalities until the day they decide to surprise you with the one thing you have been wishing for lol, because literally at least once a week i would say "i wish these @#$% clowns would host something already" hahaha. Thanks for reading my happy rant

HAHA thats adorable! Oh my Zoas would not like that at all! They get p.o.ed and close up for almost no reason at all it seems haha! And i have tried and tried to get a pic but as soon as i go to take it they move away from the leather or they look smeary on my camera...im pretty sure they are doing it to spite me...i have no human children, just the dogs and my fish babies, so this is like their 1st day of school for me and they are not cooperating hahaha!

with all the tricks on getting clownfish to host i have found none of them to be successful

the only luck i have had nems instantly hosting clowns is to buy the clowns and nem at the same time, and put both the nem and clowns in the bucket to drip acclimate, instantly when you put them in the bucket the clowns go directly to the nem and r together forever.

i have done this over 10 times and been successful everytime... if it were my tank and i already had the clowns, i would catch at least one clown and put him in the bucket with the nem, it wont take long for the clown to know what the nem is, especially with the clown just a little stressed in the bucket looking for a place to hide, and what do you know, he finds mr. nem.. just make sure your clowns are healthy before you do this so the stress of catching them doesnt affect them to bad

Congrats! I had the same problem and then i just decided to buy my clown fish a mate. A mate that was already in an anemone. I bought the anemone and mate and once he was dropped into my tank he continued to host the anemone and the other clown followed and got married! :) And they lived happily ever after in their anemone! :)
