I haven't been active much on the forums lately, mostly becasue I have been spending countless hours working on schoolwork and college stuff. Its getting easier and now I have more time for my tank.

My tank is doing well, except the algae still has not gone away. I have had algae for many months, from periods of bubble algae, to dinoflagellates, to algae I can't identify. My livestock is still very healthy and couldn't make me happier.

The problem is the algae in my tank. It has covered a lot of my live rock, and I feel as if it has destroyed the appearance of it and possibly the health. I am hoping that a new RO/DI will do the trick to reduce the growth, but I don't think it will get rid of it all. THe major problem is removing the algae. I can get pictures.

Macro algea is a good idea if you don't already have some. Soaks up excess nutrients. If it's been a problem for that long I guess it's not some new change. What water do you use now for your tank?

I used to have some Grape i think it was called, Macro algae in the tank. It lasted a month and died away, but it managed to spread across the tank in a couple of spots. I run carbon but not a phosphate remover.

The water I use is the tap water filter from aquarium pharmaceuticals. Obviously it isn't good enough and it isn't quite filter it all out. I was just afraid that if I do kill of the algae, it will remain on the rocks. I was considering a lawn mower blenny to help munch up any algae if he actually does. The snails and hermits can only do so much. The tank is also 11 months old today.

a blenny would help! i had a Lawnmower blenny named waldo who recently passed due to what i believe to be "cyanide Poisoning", another reason not to by from petco... aside from that, blennies are my favorite kind of fish, because the seem shy and hide for a month or 2 and then they pose on the rocks for you with their little puppy dog faces.
