I can't believe it. I did a water change tonight when I got home, did my normal cleaning of glass and blew off my rocks. When the water settled out and I could see again, there it was. Green Hair Algae. Its just a very small piece on one rock but none the less its there. I have read all the horror stories here about how hard it is to get rid of and the idea that I have it in my tank.... well, I am sure the rest of you have been battling it felt the same when you found it.

I just needed to vent a bit on finding this stuff. Thanks for listening....
So now the fun begins on riding my tank of this stuff.

I believe the key is finding out why it's growing ie., not enough flow, old bulbs, over feeding, etc., but a small patch caught early like you have, I'd suspect will be okay and not get out of control.

I believe this is due to me being out of town for a week.
My husband tried to take care of my tank but lets face it, he didn't know what he was doing. My lights were off schedule, he didn't realize they would come on on their own and he was feeding the tank too, so my guess here is going to be that he over fed them. Heck, I had to get robman to take over because my corals were looking like crap.
I agree, its in early stages here, and I think I can get rid of it easily enough as long as its only on one rock. ( if I have to, I will just throw that one out )

Don't panic. Most tanks go through a green hair algae outbreak. It usually happens in a normal set-up after the diatom bloom. Occasionally it will burn itself out. The main thing is to control the amount of nitrates and phosphates in the water. The best way to do this, IMO, is with a phosphate reactor. I use phosban reactors, and my green hair algae, which used to be all over the tank, now hardly exists at all.

Just a final thought - now that I have gotten rid of my algae, I wish I had more for my tangs to eat ;)
