I would go with the AquaticLife. It seems to be a much better quality unit than the JBJ. JBJ product seems to be entry level quality.

The ballasts and reflectors on the Aquatic Life are of greater quality. The Aquatic Life ballasts have a higher power factor, more power and greater output of the bulb. The reflectors have a greater reflection rating and better shape causing more light to be directed to the tank. It is also considered to be of greater quality than the JBJ.

I have had neither. You want to have reflectors that are individual wrap around or at least formed over a flat reflector. The reflector should wrap around to or past the mid point of the bulb. You want a power factor of 1.0 or as close as possible.

I'm running the Aquaticlife 4x24w t5ho. Love it!! German made individual reflectors :) have had it running for 8 months and couldn't be more pleased. When I got it I just switched out the stock lamps for all ATI's plugged it in and haven't had to touch it since. All lights are on digital timers, 1 cord. This fixture rocks!!
