So I was sitting in my orbital mechanics class this morning, which had me thinking about space, and anxiously awaiting my reef empire order, which had me thinking about saltwater, when this crazy idea came to mind. If you could create a completely sealed aquarium which incorporated some form of gas exchange, how I'm not sure, how would fish in that tank behave in space in zero gravity ? I think the fish would still be able to swim as they use the water as a platform to move but what about coral growth? Just curious what some of your guys thoughts are or am I just crazy.

hahaha sounds like my day lol...
i would say that since there is no gravity the fish would have issues with their swim bladders. they would be able to get around but it would just involve a lot of swimming lol...

and the corals are not effected by gravity so they would just grow towards the light source :)

I was thinking the same thing about coral growth, but zero gravity does some weird stuff to growth in all types of things that you would have never expected.

i think the fish could manage. water kinda makes it close to having zero gravity. nasa trains people underwater to get a feel for zero gravity. i think the fish would just have to rely on the friction in the water to help them move. a monkey has made it to space, maybe someday we can try a fish tank up there. :)
