This leather is in my Biocube. It just recently tuned color. It is healthy and had just shed a few days ago and emerged with the new color. It is actually quite pretty but just curious as to the change. Here is a before (sort of Brown) and after. Any thoughts?

Most color morphs has to do with lighting. New bulbs and placement of the coral are the major reasons. Have you changed bulbs recently? If you got the coral just recently, most likely the LFS's lighting and yours are different. That would explain the color morph.

I know, I forgot to say the lights were changed 11/8/09 so I ruled that out and the coral is about 8-9 mos. old and has been in that spot for 6 mos. or so. It is there because it has done so well there.

If your lights were changed 11.08.09, that could be why it changed its color.

So, it can take that long for the lights to affect a change?

less than a month? yes. My bubble coral changed from pink to a light pinkish/greenish shade about 2 months after I switched lights... as a reference.

Same type? The Bio has the standard 50/50 compacts. That coral has been through 2 light changes. I changed lights about 1 month or so after I put it in as the lights were due. 5 mos. later I changed them. The coral remained the same creamy Brown color. Only after this one has it changed. That's what was puzzling.

I dont see why not. Nothing happens over night in this hobby, only death. Remember that once you install(power-up) your bulbs, they are already "losing" they're spectrum.
