I received a huge ball of cheato and am trying to keep it alive until my tank w/ refugium cycles. I have been keeping it in a glass tank with a light, heater, and power head. It looks the same as when i put it in there, and looks like its staying alive. Well i have run into a problem. I need the space/outlets for the new tank as i am adding lighting and pumps, etc. I have another tank with a fuge and i was thinking i could just put the cheato in there. Will this disrupt the tank and fuge at all? I have mangroves, LR, a very small ball of cheato, and some other various types of macro in there. I just want to keep the cheato alive but dont want to be running another tank.

I can't imagine why it would disrupt the other fuge...

I cycled my system with cheato in the fuge and it was OK. That's another option.

I had an abundance of chaeto and left a ball of it in a bucket in the basement, no heater or light for two weeks, and it was fine. It's not a coral.

If you have it in a seperate tank, make sure the PH stays up. I asked John from reefcleaners about putting the micro in the fuge when it was cycling and he said the onlything that will probably kill it is low PH.
