Killer Snail

    Here is a pic of the killer snail. I have found it a couple of more times attached to the foot of another snail and I will seperate the snails and the other snail is still alive. Let me know what you think.

    correct me if I am wrong guys but that looks like a tulip snail to me.

    its deff not a turbo snail....turbo snail shells are cone shaped and smooth looking texture. not to mention their shells point up. that guy is scary looking

    Yup, it's not a Turbo, it's in the Murex family, all of which are predatory on something. Yours is a rather pretty variation of Stramonita haemastoma, a common Gulf Coast species. As you guessed, they feed on other molluscs.

    I took him back to my LFS and they gave me the few snails they had left and are going to give me some more snails when they come in next week. What are better aresta or Margarita snails?
