Man watching this tank fill is worse than watching paint dry. A hell of a lot slower too. The display is full as of 10 pm last night so I pulled the ATO feed line out of the display and hooked it up to the ATO float valve. Left it on all night expecting to wake up and have a full sump. I figured I'd turn on the return pump and leave it for the day while I'm at work. Well... there was only a couple inches of water in the sump from about 7 hours of it running. Surely it should have dumped more water than that into the sump???
It seems like enytime air gets in the line from the RO unit to the tank it slows the water flow down until the air is out. Hopefully it's full tonight so I can add salt and turn that controller on so my heaters will work.

I'm afraid to put the ORP and pH probes into fresh water. Didn't know if it would hurt them or throw off the calibration...

    Sorry Luna no pictrues.

Riddle me this people. How is it possible for air to get into a line when water can't get out? There is still air in the feed line to the Auto Top Off but it should have been all purged by now. Somehow air is getting into the system but there aren't any water leaks any where. What am I missing?

You need to get a accumulator for that RO unit quick. That way you can build pressure for the ATO valve. Heck if you want to save money look on flee-bay. I got mine through Air Water & Ice and he had great prices.

Otty saves the day! So what your saying is that the unit will have some air go through it, so if it is dumping into the accumulator then into the tank this will minimize air in the line? Correct me if I'm wrong, I's justs tryins to learns myselfs here;D!

There is probably still air in the line from the install. He needs to use it in a tank with a charged bladder so he can get pressure. I got a 10.2g on for around $100 so a 3g or 5g should be enough unless he plans on a bigger tank later. You get your unit running yet??

I left the return pump running today. Going to have mommy check it while she's on lunch. If the top off hasn't kept up with the evaporation then I'll have her unplug the return pump. I had forgotten about the expansion tank the old RO had that this one is lacking... dang it. Always something and this thing isn't even running yet...

Man the big tanks always seem so much smaller with the rockscape in them. A 55 can look huge even when filled with rock, coral, and livestock. strange. Well, the tank is looking good. I hope the hiccups smooth themselves out. Are you using a wal-mart type tub for the w/d? I'v got a 29 that's about to be torn down and replaced with a 55. Pay shipping and it's yours. G/f says I can't keep it:-[

Yea I know what you mean Boredm. It's hard to get a good idea of how big it is.
