Look at Vick and That dummy who was my teams running back Ricky Williams Now I see Vick positive for Pot with his last test today LOL Hell just look at them all all that money for chasing a ball and they still can;t get that right. Something is bad wrong when a idiot gets paid millions to catch a ball and a teacher or solder makes so little.. You tell me ?? I'd never buy a ticket to a sports event they don't mine :)
I just call it nature of the beast..

Wanted to give all of you addicts an update on my tank...

I've been wanting to add a closed loop set up since moving up from the 55 gallon to the 180. I wanted to do this for a few reasons. Flow, looks, reliability, heat in the tank, etc. The list could go on...

Well yesterday 10-7 Otty came over to help me hook up this beast. It's the same pump set up he was using on his 265 before he upgraded. 2 Little Giant 4 MDQX pumps. Each pump is rated at 1400 GPH. Both pumps run in sequence. This ensures if a pump fails the tank will still have plenty of flow. The setup is pretty simple, 2 pickups (1 for each pump) an ocean's motions valve, and 4 outlets to the tank.

    Here are some pictures:

    A few more pictures...

These show the phosphate reactor I hooked up and them amount of liquor drank yesterday between working on the tank and watching football.
    Good times!

Karma to Otty for his helping hand!

Thanks everyone! It's definitely a work in progress but I don't have to tell any of you that... ;D

I've encountered another problem and I'm not quite sure where it's coming from. Yesterday evening the tank got up to 83/84 degrees. It was still at 80 degress this morning which is really odd because it's never that warm in the morning...

I took one heater out when I installed the closed loop because it seemed to be malfuntioning and was very hot even in the tank water. There's only one left in there.
I figured taking 6 maxi jet 1200's and a heater out would have cooled the tank off but it didn't turn out like that...

Sounds like the heater was the problem. Good thing you caught that early!

Yea that could have been way bad. Problem is the tank is still too warm. I woudn't think 2 little giant pumps would heat the tank up like that. I'm thinking maybe the power head I'm using to run the new PO4 reactor is being a bit overworked and adding heat into the tank. I'm going to swap out power heads tonight to see if that helps...

Alright gang I've been posting on another thread about a hair algae [STRIKE]problem[/STRIKE] make that plague I've been dealing with. Now that I'm starting to make some ground in dealing with it I thought I'd move the posting to my tank thread so here goes.

Step 1 was to add a PO4 reactor which was done sometime around the first part of September. I'm running ROWA Phos in it and it lowered my po4's down to 0 in the tank. Problem is the algae didn't go away. It did loose it's darker green color but other than that didn't seem bothered at all.

Step 2 began last night when I started to manually remove this stuff. Some pictures of the process are below. Basically I got a 5 gallon bucket and put a fish net over the top of it. I then started syphoning algea off the rocks and letting the water go through the fish net. This allowed me to add the water back to the tank. I think all in all I removed and replaced about 50-60 gallons of water last night to get to the point where I'm at now. I'm also estimating I removed about a pound or better of hair algae. Let me know what you all think.

Hoefully the tank is on the way to looking as good as it used to before my RO filters went bad... :(
