Those last pictures show the tank as I was tearing it down. I had stayed up the night before building the new "canopy" and getting the lights and controller working. The first thing I did was shut off the sump and fuge for tear down and equipment removal.

A little bit about the water movement in the system:

Filtration/sump return is a little giant 4MQX-SC pump

Closed loop is two little giant 4MDQX-SC pumps running through a Ocean's Motion's 4 way valve.

The reactors and UV are ran off of a manifold supplied by a Mag 18

I'm a huge fan of redundancy, the return, closed loop, and manifold are on 3 different circuits. There are even 3 heaters on 3 circuits. None of the 3 can keep up alone but 2 can. If one of the heaters were to stick on it wouldn't fry the tank.

the scenes from behind that set up are fascinating

question, the large salt water vessel, that you indicate means you never need to lift buckets again
do you add salt mix to there and then fill from RODI?
Is there circulation in there to mix it?

I like the failsafes built in, running multuple heaters etc is ideal for the reason you state

It looks even better in person Kris ;D! You need to post some pics of the final setup from the outside too, it is impressive. You've done a good job on it, now I just have to stay away so I don't get the "itch" again! And to jump in the middle of the conversation Steve... he has a heater and a modded Maxijet in the water change storage to ensure everything is ready the moment it may be needed. It is really an excellent setup Kris, what every reefer wants! Dang it feels good to talk saltwater again!

Thanks Steve! Bryce beat me to it on the mixing tank. The only thing I have to pick up is the salt... I mix it in 16 ounces at a time.

I hate to post finished pictures without the trim and walls being painted. Hopefully I can get that done this week or next....

thank you bmshehan - good to see you on site
that does sound excellent to a bucket hauler like myself, thankfully only on a tank less than 1/3rd the size of KOgle's so not to many buckets

    sounds very effective KOgle
automation to that degree, seems excellent on a very large set up like this one
    IMO

Noooooo, no tanks for us for a little while. We're tanked out!

Come on up! We'd love to have you!
What's it say to you I wonder? :D

Heavy? You must need to do more bench presses :hehe:
