I have had 2 koralia evo 1400s and one evo 1050 in my 90 gallon. I purchased the 1400s shortly after Koralia started making the Evos. The 1400s have been giving me problems for the last year. I ordered new impellers that came with the redesigned bushing, and that helped for a bit, but recently they have been very finicky. They are not run on a wavemaker and simply quit working randomly. I have to remove, clean, and reposition the impeller multiple times before they will randomly start working again. I have tried cleaning, which helps for only about a week before they become finicky again.

Anyways, i finally got fed up and decided to replace them. I ordered 2 new 1400s off amazon from a reputable seller. I went to install them today and they have been totally redesigned. The outside looks identical but the impeller and innards are completely different. They now have a stainless steel shaft. Yes, a shaft. I forgot to snap a pic before placing them in my tank, but here's a pic from the instructions manual showing you the new design. I tried searching online about a redesign, but found nothing. Also, the box is labeled 1500 gph instead of 1400. Hopefully this redesign solves the problem i was having with my previous ones. Has anyone else seen these?

I've been having the same issues with mine, and am currently dealing with Koralia's customer service (which seems less helpful than they have been in the past). Hopefully the redesign works good for you!

I have to ask them for new fronts every couple of months due to them breaking. Total bummer. The only nice thing is there US customer service center is based out of my city, so I don't have to wait long.

The front grill of these feel a bit more sturdy as well. Hopefully they will stand up better to wave maker use.

When you take the pumps apart, don't loose the little rubber thing because its the reason for the Koralia's not to go in reverse. I saw a rep at a trade show and he said that running them on short pulse or not paying attention to see if the rubber bushing is replaced after cleaning is the problem of them going in reverse. The short pulse problem has then been fixed since and the output grate is wider now almost like the Tunzes.

I never took apart the pump so it's not the rubber part. And I ran them on a 20sec pulse. They are still a good pump jest don't belong on a wave maker witch is why they cost so little. Can't beat the out put vs money.
