Think you will enjoy it. Those guys over at ecotech marine are great and have an awsome product that just blows all the other pumps out of the water. I went with the korlia's and they do what there supposed to and that is blow the water but they do not compare to ecotech it is much more than a wavemaker/powerhead!

Its a piece of ART in the marine world of wavemaking!

They aren't $300 more if you compare them to other variable speed pumps. The Tunze, variable speed pumps, when you add in a controller, and use enough to get the same flow rating are more expensive. Even the variable speed koralis, with an equivalent flow rating are more expensive and they don't do anywhere near as much.

    For example, 2 koralis on a controller; 1400gph each=2800gph total is $360
Hydor 2-Way Basic Wavemaker with 2 x Koralia Controllable Pumps/Powerheads

The Vortech is over $400, but provides 3600gph and has a heck of a lot more control ability and much wider flow pattern. The Tunze pumps don't have a package, but if I add them up, they are about $100 more for a basic package, which also has a narrow flow cone and much less control ability.
For the price and what they do, the vortechs are actually the most affordable on the market... Compared to static pumps they are expensive though.

I got two free CORAL magazine issues mailed to me from Ecotech after I bought my MP10 a few months ago.

It's a fantastic product. I wish all aquarium equipment was half the quality of the MP10.

They can be a bit noisy though if you put them on short pulse... I imagine it's worse for the MP40.

They are absolutely amazing. The main thing I have noticed is the overall pull of the pump. My MP40s pull particles towards them that that are a good 1.5 feet away.

Demand and supply. :) In order to keep demand down, the cost must go up, 'til they find a happy medium.

I have to admit, they are pretty sexy looking.

I am about to order one for myself as well. its a 75 gallon, so I assume I need the mp40.
The only thing I am concerned about is programming it and if it would stir up sand from the bottom?

Its already programmed for you, theres tons of videos on youtube that explain this. It might depending on how high away the pump is to your sand and how much sand you have. As well as the type of sand, if its fine these tend to move the sand more naturally. Looks like a wave and is pretty cool.
