So today I got about 20 gallons of RO water from a buddy and I went ahead and mixed some salt in it. I put my koralia 2's in the water to help stir the salt mix up and realized that they are loud. I think that mainly it's when they're up against the glass but I'm not sure. The guy I got the water from has a couple of koralia 2's and they weren't that loud. Anybody know any tricks to quiet them down?:confused::confused:

My koralias aren't loud at all. Are they near enough to the surface that air gets sucked in?

They tend to vibrate some, if you have the non-magnet parts up against anything hard there would probably be some kind of noise from that.

are you talking like a humming? i bought a second k2 and it was awful. my other 2 and 1 didnt make any noise so i knew something wasnt right. i just exchanged it. my guess is the pin that runs through the impeller is slightly off balance and causing it to vibrate. you can try to maybe center it, but i would just exchange it

It's more of a vibration. The one is quiet as a mouse and the other one it's almost a vibration combined with a rattle.

You may want to email the manufacturer. I had two koralia 1's that starting this horrible rattle. I emailed them and they sent me a couple of nylon washer and that seemed to have worked. I upgraded to koralia 2's and haven't had any issues yet.

The older koralias were manufactured with a ceramic shaft that breaks very easily. My K3s shaft broke in 3 pieces when doing pump maintenance and it rattled like crazy, emailed hydor and they sent me new shafts and fish guards 100% free of charge.

I also had a koralia 1 and it vibrated loudly too. What happened was I lost a little rubber o-ring that goes around the shaft into the koralia while cleaning. They sent me a little white plastic ring and now its silent.
