Wet skimming uses more salt and more water. However, you are also removing particulate matter before it breaks down. Dry skimming saves you money on salt and RO/DI water but primarily only removed DOC's (Dissolved Organic Compounds). What is best for you is going to depend on what animals you keep, your flow, etc.

just a little update on the koran angel. i added this fish in October 2008 - now about 6 months later he/she is about 5-6" in length and seems to be starting to morph. the nose and center of the body are showing goldish hues. right now the tank gets a cube of food and a swatch of nori every day, all of which is consumed within an hour or two (the nori - cube gets eaten out of my hand). anything else special to do?

Just keep your water quality up to par. I say this because, a couple months ago, my Koran which started to morph suddenly died and I assumed that it was because I wasn't doing water changes at all.
    And probably supplement with vitamins.

sorry to hear that siddique. hope mine does well. of course, today i heard one of the worst things a reefer can hear (i think). my 3 year old told me he likes to feed my fish when i'm at work. "huh? what do you feed them?" i ask. he tells me "green squishy things from the yard!"

no wonder my gsp hasn't been open the last two days!

Oh my Gosh... That's an eye opener. Wow, If my nieces or nephews ever told me something like that, I'm sure I would have a heart attack. I get really edgy when they come over and start playing with my mag float. I can't imagine how I'd feel if they ever put their hands in my tanks. But kids will be kids;):cheesy:
I'd put the gsp in QT if I were you

such is parenting. i can't find any debris in the tank, and no3 is still 0. ph is a little off (8.2, usually 8.3). just going to sit tight. had a long talk with both boys.
