laminar flow????

    i have my tank set up to flow in a circle around my coralwith two pumps one on the back flowing to the right and one on the opeset side of my tank in the front flowing to the left.. i want it to do a laminar flow but i dont know what it means. i have been told to have it do that and im not real clear on it.
