If your tank has a mega overflow, which it probably does, the slits in the front don't drain your tank. The overflow has another wall to it that prevents the tank from draining. What happens is, as water goes over the top of your overflow water is pulled in to those slots as pulled up and into the overflow chamber. Your tank will not drain.

Mike, I told you when we moved the tank to do it right the first time.

Yes he has a megaflow and told him that once drained it shouldn't drain out since It's double walled. But would have to drain that water in the overflow section to make sure.

Bozo, told you it was a bad idea to move it with the live sand. Damn that was heavy.

If it is just a plumbing leak, no problem to fix. I guess i misunderstood a little where the leak was coming from, i thought that some silicone in one of your seals had came loose. Since one member of the group obviously has no common sense and always seems to contradict me (which is fine because it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round) hehe. 100% silicone has never hurt my reef at all, its actually kinda recommended by many seasoned pros, so i guess if you wasnt sure something was reef safe you probably wouldnt want it in your tank, that is if you had any common sense about keeping a tank, sorry m2434

5200 is amazing and it will dry underwater, but you will NEVER remove that bulkhead without cutting it off. It is toxic, and as long as it is not in direct contact would be fine. But I wouldn't recommend using it.

Just an update for everyone.. Meekel and myself worked on his tank Wednesday night. He drained the overflow section & removed the bulkhead. I washed out the massive amount of build up at the bottom of the overflow, it was like mud. With a razor remove the old silicone. I applyed silicone to the bottom lip of the bulkhead, the gasket, base of the thread to fill in the void through the glass & to the side of the nut that meets the glass. I held the bulkhead, while Meekel tightened the nut.

After that I checked in the overflow to see a nice silicone ring around the bulkhead & sealed around the nut & the glass bottom. Let it dry overnight.

One problem now, no water is circulating. What I did do was had one of the powerheads at the top of the tank and each time it ran, it would mix air into the water so that the live stock would not die from being deprived of air.

Last night, Meekel reconnected the drain to his sump & fired up his return pump. Happy to say, no leaks. At least so far.. ;) lol....

Why may I ask did you use silicone? Thats not the corect way to install a bulkhead or gaskets. Clean and dry.
If there is a gap between the bulkhead and glass holes such as too large a hole was drilled thyat void is best filled with an o-ring to fill the gap and give the gasket something to back up against.

I hope it does not leak but don'y say I didn't tell you so.
