Looking to add an LED strip to add some more umph to my lighting.

Any one have any experience with the Marine Skkylight Singlestrip LED light? They use 1watt LEDs.
Innovative Marine SkkyeLight SingleStrip LED Light: LED Aquarium Light Fixtures

Tank is a 46gal bowfront with a 36inch aquaticlife dual bulb T5HO fixture. Thinking if I purchase that strip in the actinic range I could then run two white bulbs in the fixture like my Geismann 14k and an ATI coralplus? Would that amount of light be sufficient for keeping a clam 19inch below on the substrate?

That would not be enough power. I would check out reefLEDlights.com, they have 24" diy LED bars, if you really want pop, you should use 12 XT-E royal blues, and drive them around 1300ma max if you get a dimmable driver, 700ma if not.

I already recommended a few good options in the last thread.

Thank you for that, many of them were still considerably more than I wanted to spend so I continued my search and started this thread specific to this model to see if anyone had any experience with it

how tall is your tank again? 1w usually can't get down to the bottom of the tank if it is over 18inches

From the water level to the sandbed is 19inches. most of my corals are mid-high level with only a few on the sandbed for the time being

yes, however that is just part of the issue about the light. 18w is not enough for a 46g tank. If you can concentrate all that 18w to a smaller area it might work, but when it spread over 36", the light is a lot less . I am keeping 2 of the Zetlight Nano on my 33g 3ft tank. and i only able to do it because the light can focus down in a smaller area. The side of my tank cannot keep coral in this case. For the price of that plus a bit more, you can get a 24" LED fixture ranging from 72-120watt that will be for sure able to keep any coral and clam under it. I think the cost is ranging from $180-200 shipped.

Maybe think of this way, why would you want to spend 127.00+shipping to buy a light and risk the possibility losing coral or clam you will have. While you can get a $180 or $200 LED shipped able to keep all those coral you want?

if your tank is 36", you really just need a 24" light fixture with either stand that can stretched 36" or hang the fixture high.
I can't really say the brand name as it is not a sponsor. You can search around, even reef breeder's value LED can do just fine as long as you can hang the light a bit higer
