Thanks for sharing your loss. Keep in mind that all LED's will not suffer the same issues as you saw with yours. Aquaillumination LED units have been operational for several years without these types of issues. Since Marineland is a large company I would suggest contacting them. They may be able to help you with your issue. It may still be under warranty.

Yet another failed marineland product. After reading the stealth heater stories, I decided to take a chance and purchase a marineland maxijet 900 to pump water to my fuge. Its the new model that can be a powerhead OR a circulater pump. It was a joke, they supplied 2 props for the circulater pump, both rattled like crazy and made the thing super loud, not to mention the mount was a joke and wouldn't even hold the weight of the thing. Luckily in powerhead mode it was quiet enough to use in my sump for my fuge so I kept it since I needed it.

I would try to get them to replace it, and then sell the replacement light and build a DIY led light with the help of this forum ;)

Not to mention it may not be the saltwater that caused the failure, I would lean more towards the fixture not having proper cooling. My LFS has one on a tank and if you touch the top of it you will have 3rd degree burns. I couldn't believe it ran so hot. It was on a 40 breeder and the coverage was horrible too.

I would def. blame it on the mfg or that unit in particular, and not LED's in general. I've not had an issuse with any of my LED's whatsoever...

I also have had problems with those pumps. Bought 2 and 1 didnt work out of the box. Returned it, now the one that I got to replace it broke. I've currently got it rigged to work but they are junk!

When I saw one of these fixtures over the frag tanks at one of my lfs I couldn't believe there was anything alive in the tank. Tank is only 12inches deep and only has soft corals and I still couldnt believe it was enough light to sustain them. I am definitely very disappointed with their performance.
