    Hello Everyone,

Well I just finished building my 20 Gal sump/fuge combo. I have a question on lighting though, I saw it mentioned in a thread here somewhere that they were using red/white leds for lighting. Is anyone else doing this successfully? Not only do I have a huge surplus of red and white LEDs but I can run it solar so less power draw overall.

    Thanks for any info!

The red is very important and thats what the plants like we run several like that I have to put mine back on when I can get down the steps and I made 2 sets for my son and his buddy they both saw a big difference in plant growth. We do a lot of LED systems .. from Moon lights to smaller main tank systems a little expensive but last many trouble free yrs and cheap to run..

Yeah thats what I was thinking, less bulbs. And since I have already built a solar charger that charges up a decent sized SLA UPS battery it's a no brainer. How many LEDs are you using on yours?

Well my plan was to make a large cluster of 25,000 MCD 5mm Red LEDs, maybe some white or blue ones sprinkled throughout the cluster. From what i've seen online as long as you have it fairly close then it seemed to work ok.

Any updates? I'm looking into led refugium lighting and came across this thread. Just wondering if there was any success/advice to be told before I buy the fixture?
