    I know I have posted many questions about specific fixtures but it has now come time to decide. I am on a budget so I am limited in my choices. This would be for a 180 long FOWLR turned reef with SPS near the top 1/3. I contacted EcoXotic about the Panorama 36 Retrofit and they said I could easily keep SPS in the top 1/3. Par ratings on this fixture are 200 at surface, 70 at bottom. Would this be enough for LPS near the bottom?
    Should I go with 4 AIs?
    Or just stick with 3 250w MH

    Most LPS need about 50-100ish. So, your in the ballpark if the info is correct.

    Just to add, that is a typical guestimate. There may be some that require many times more than that. LPS is a very broad classification.

    The Panoramas are great, never heard of any complaints. What size tank is it?

    I recieved this PM, but I will keep the sender anonymous
    Just to let you know, I've heard and read nothing good about that fixture as far as coral growth/health. It is basically a bunch of stunner strips in a fixture mount, which those strips should really only be used as supplementation. I am sending this is a PM as not to publically bash a company that I have no experience with, however, do have experience with LEDs. So far, with CREE 3W XRE/XPGs, I have seen coral growth. With BoostLED's Mu135W fixture, coral growth, and enhanced coloring (most likely from the UV diodes). I will be trying out Orpheks new lights as well. The AI SOL's are nice, expandable, and controllable...however, you have to pay for each "expansion." The DIY method, if you're up for it, is the most economical way. For a standard 180 (72"), I'd get a 5' x 10 heatsink (HeatsinkUSA.com), and 2 of the 48 Dimmable Kits from RapidLED.com The DIY is really not that bad.

    Oooops, forgot MaxSpect. They get good reviews for the G2 models, and the G3s are coming out soon...Would 2 170w fixtures be too much?

    If the person who sent the PM meant the Modules are the same as the Stunners, he/she is absolutely wrong and doesn't know what he/she is talking about. I have both. Here is another promising LED product line;
