LEDs for Refugium

    Is any one using LEDs for their refugium? It sounds like the way to go since I run the light 24 / 7. And the size is small enough (30gal) that the purchase price should be reasonable.

    If you go that way get them in 6500K spectrum only. That seems to be the best for growing macro algae.

    nope, I run a $5 clip on reflector from HomeDepot and a $6 CFL 6500k bulb rated at 24watts with a 125watt equivalence

    you can try it if they are made specifically for plants(usually expensive). If its just a regular light I think it wouldn't support growth very well because leds have a narrow spectrum I believe.
