much to the dismay of my wife, our 6line, Leonard, hasn't come out to play today. Checked my params (NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 5 ppm), corals open and happy, the rest of the crew are swimming, eating, acting normally. how long should i wait before i start to worry?

I wouldn't worry...i've had fish (wrasses specifically) disappear for 2 even 3 days..then the next day they just come out and want food like nothing ever happened..after those 2-3 days I would start worrying.

He may be hiding in a rock somewhere, do you have a lid on the tank? If not then I would do a real good search around the tank and make sure he didn't carpet surf. If that turns up nothing I wouldn't worry for a bit, I have had fish hide for a couple days on me.

yeah, no surfing evidence. the tanks kind of off on it's own so unless he cleared 5 feet i would have found him. i'm not really too worried but he's my wife's favorite and she keeps staring at the tank calling his name... "leonAAAAARD!"

LOL, good news then that he hasn't surfed, give it a bit then. I wouldn't be too worried just yet. Maybe he is just grumpy and doesn't wanna come out today, I have days like that.

Not too long ago my Melanurus wrasse slept in..for 2 days..I also saw a big ball of fleshy stuff drifting along the bottom (still have no idea what that was..). My favorite fish by far..so the second day around lunch i ordered another one. Not 15 min after i placed my order who do I see? Mr. Melanurus....

ok, bad news. i just walked in and saw him floating in the current. i'm kinda pissed. what on earth happened? there was not laying on the bottom, weezing. no funny swimming, nothing! he was perfectly fine and eating last night at 7 and this morning, dead. everyone else in the tank is fine and groovy, what gives? old age? ate some bad mysid? what the crap!?
