Just exactly how level does the floor need to be? I am going to put a 240 gal glass tank on a wood stand on a stained concrete floor that isn't 100% level. How far off can I be, and what do you suggest for leveling it if I need to?

You will have to either have the floor leveled, or shim the stand. It needs to be 100% dead even level.

Shimming the stand shouldn't be to hard, but what about when I get some water in it? There is no moving it at that point!

My 55 has been off level for 2 years with no problems at all but idk about a 240 being off level thats a LOT of extra water.....id make sure it is 100 level, you can always just add freshwater about 1/4 full and u will be able to tell if its level or not.

I had to adjust my 90 gal tank after I put water in it. I used shims and it worked fine.

I accually thought it was easy to level with water in it because you can watch the water line to see how close you are, then when your close, use a level.

Get the plastic synthetic ones. Wood will not work well with this amount of weight for long. Plus, if the wood ones get wet, the tend to contract or in the very least rot after a bit.

Where do you find the plastic ones? I know the wood ones are made for windows and doors and such
