I recently bought a t5 light for my tank..would it be ok to keep the original tank fixture running along side it ..on one hand you would think more light is better but I heard that because they are diffrent spectrumsit may not be good to run the t5 along side the original tank light..thanks for any input;D;D;D

It will not hurt anything. You may get algae growth, depending on the bulb that is in it, but probably not much. You should be able to replace the bulb with a marine version though.

It will provide more light... just not much compared to a t5 unit. Not sure if it would be worth it to be honest. IF I were to use it, i would use it to provide a different color than the t5s.

What bulbs are you getting on the T5 and what type of lighting is the original unit?

It looks like they aren't high output, I could be wrong, do you know if it is? It won't hurt anything and at 17w will cost less then a dollar to run all month. Mixing spectrums is a good thing, you are then able to get blues for color and red/ yellows/ greens for growth. What are you planning on keeping? Fish only?
